Walmart goes into medical insurance industry – Worker Benefit News

Walmart is the current significant retailer to enter the health insurance industry.

The retail huge plans to sell health insurance policies directly to consumers, according to a report by HR Dive. Walmart is currently hiring Medicare insurance agents to help get the brand-new endeavor off the ground. Walmart did not immediately return an ask for comment.

“You will be responsible for helping the Medicare neighborhood in a meaningful method, by registering consumers in Medicare product or services over the phone,” the Walmart task posting says.

This is the latest venture in Walmart’s efforts to get in the healthcare industry; last year, Walmart revealed it was opening its very first health clinic in Georgia, where consumers would have access to oral, mental health therapy, X-rays and audiology services under one roofing system. Walmart prepares to open more of these places in Georgia and Arkansas.
